Hello friends!
We turned on the heating and began eating bisquits again cause the summer is gone for sure!
But... not only the autumn is back! So we are very proud to say: LA BATTERIE is back too!
After touring Europe 2007/08 with their second album „He Ate A Lamp Now He's A Fan" and having a one-year-break, they are now working on their third album and are back on stage again.
The Berlin based band LA BATTERIE built a house of rubberstones, wood and gaffatape with a clear constructed architecture and dissonant wallpapers to fill it up with their own kind of popmusic. They play their songs with drums (Anne), guitar (Pascal), piano and samples (Mario) and they all sing, shout and whisper.
"Their counter melodies and atmospheres they create through pop music is breathtaking. They really are something very different and something very unique. Music like this gives me a reason to believe creativity is not dead.
LA BATTERIE will challenge your taste at first but once you are over the fact they don't need conventional song structures, instrument set ups or even attitudes you will realise you are onto something very very special. John Peel would have been proud."

LA BATTERIE will play two gigs in Berlin next week:
On October 10th they will play @ Broschek, Weichselstr. 6 in Neukölln their first acoustic set ever! It is a challenge for them, cause they will only play with a acoustic guitar, groovebox and soft drums. It's gonna be a percusive and charmingly cosy sound!
They will share the floor (there is no stage hihihi) with SIRI SVEGLER, who just released her debut pop album "Silent Viewer" at Compost Records, and MORNINGS, a friend of us, who plays some quiet noisy no wave stuff with Mr. Kranefeld from our Band DAS HUHN.
On October 18th they will play live 'n' loud @ West Germany in Kreuzberg with two other fantastic bands:
MAGIC MARKERS and DOGBOWL from New York!
The Magic Markers toured with ASTRAL BLESSING, SONIC YOUTH, NAUTICAL ALMANAC, DINOSAUR JR., SUNBURNED HAND OF THE MAN, THE BELIEVERS, BLUES CONTROL, LAMBSBREAD and work with rad muthas like Scott Colburn, Aaron Mullan and Lee Ranaldo. In 2006 Leah Quimby, despite protests, left the band to pursue her dream of owning an apple orchard on Prince Edward island. Left as only two, Peter Nolan and Elisa Ambrogio soldier on, jamming before capacity crowds at home and abroad.
DOGBOWL aka Stephen Tunney, a founding member of KING MISSILE hasbeen making records since 1987, recording for two of the world's mosteclectic indie labels on either side of the Atlantic, SHIMMY DISC and LITHIUM RECORDS.Deemed "a singer/songwriterextraordinaire" by Melody Maker, his songs have been covered byartists as diverse as BONGWATER, THEMARRIED MONK, FRED POULET and MIXEL PIXEL.DOGBOWL recorded two records, "Hot Day in Waco" and "Gunsmoke" with KRAMER (BONGWATER, BUTTHOLE SURFERS), followed by the cult "Zeppelin Record" on Lithium and a live album at WFMU.Since then, DOGBOWL has concentrated on his work as a painterand has exhibited at shows in London, Geneva and Poitiers. So catch Stephen Tunney at this rare musical performance in Berlin while you can!

Islamiya Scarr and Anne Paschvoß will show their latest work in the Cake And Coffee Space from june 26th to June 28th! The opening is on Friday 26th at pm.
Islamiya Scarr's work explores the role of the object. Her sculptures and installations comprise of images, found objects, re-appropriated materials and handcrafted items. These materials are fused together, using a visual language that has its roots firmly situated in the tradition of sculpture. Illusionism and artifice are necessary props for creating these highly theatrical sculptures. Humour is also integral to the work as is the notion of the ridiculous.
Islamiya Scarr studied Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art, London and graduated in 2008. She currently lives and works in Berlin.
Anne Paschvoß' paintings and objects subsist on the idea of each other and the purpose of a thing. the object in case of beeing built and painted for itself is a simulation and continuance of a room with pictures on its walls. the paintings and objects, made of simple material like wood, tape and paper try to fathom out the moment where the meanings of both forms may cancel or increase each other.
After finishing her studies of fine arts at the Kunstakademie Münster, Anne Paschvoß is now living and working in Berlin.

Tonight @ Cake And Coffee:
starting the Metronomicon Audio Week with: ERGO (NOR), Beatstreet Collective vernissage, Dj Sissyfus and Dj Beatnik'74!!!!
Ergo got tired of being everyone..s sidekick. For years he laboured as whistler
for Magnus Moriarty--, bouzouki player for Now We..ve got Members and tone
generator operator for The Center of the Universe. All the while he conducted
small experiments in sound back home in Ergoland. In Ergoland Ergo was his
own boss and could do precisely as he wanted. There were no spiritual advisors
or singer/songwriter primadonnas to push him around. Ergo plays a sort of
off-center pop music comprised of white-keys-only piano, cosmic folksong,
closet electronics and a hint of amateur recorder flute. Ergo has released the 3"
EP Reclaim the Mall! on Metronomicon Audio, and is currently working on a
follow up 3" with more folky material, as well as a full length CD of more
electronic music. Ergo enjoys freckles, single malt whiskys and cats.

Metronomicon Audio week in Berlin - Neukölln!
From oct. 30th until nov. 8th Cake and Coffee Records and Valentin Stüberl present a week with guests from the Oslo based label Metronomicon Audio.
Bands and Djs will mix Oriental Folk, Breakbeats, Electronica, lo-fi and sci-fi together into a joyful and poppish mixture. The lyrics are absurd fairytales, and the melodies are bound to be whisteled by you if you can whistle and if you listen to this music more than once. And all that in our cake and coffee space Berlin-Neukölln and in the Valentin Stüberl Berlin-Neukölln.

This is our space in Berlin - Neukölln, Weserstr. 56. After a long long time in clouds of dust and anger, between two chewing gum machines and a million dogs, here it is.
we opened the door, a few weeks ago for a first exhibition - but: the REAL and official opening will be in the end of august with ugly huhn (a symbiosis of Ugly Iglu and Das Huhn) with a "then it will be a" destroyed piano, an exhibition and a room full of love and music.
And this is the way it will go on: exhibitions, concerts, records, parties, and of course cake and coffee...
